My Kirby Heritage 84 is still performing like new, except for the shampooer. I don’t have carpets, so that doesn’t matter. I have performed any repairs/maintenance it needed. I wouldn’t have any other vacuum.
Been using My Kirby upright Avetir for about a year. When using the Kirby as an upright, I’ve been impressed with its quality. However, in our small house, it wont reach into tight corners. Transitioning it to hose and nozzle configuration is relatively easy. However, the unit isn’t configured very well for this type of use. The vacuum unit catches on corners often. The location of the switch is difficult to access in this configuration as well. The vacuum itself is excellent quality but the hose and nozzle accessories are of much less quality compared to previous vacuums we’ve owned.
We purchased a Kirby Avalir directly from the Kirby Company in August 2024, started using it in September 2024. Up until January 2025 it worked great, then started to not always turn on. The light would flash but the Kirby would not turn on. In February 2025 the Kirby stopped working entirely, other than the flickering light, it would not turn on. I took it to an authorized Kirby repair shop and was informed that it was a faulty 3 part switch (I may have the technical term wrong, but that was the simple explanation from the repair man). It has been two weeks, and the are still waiting on the warranty approval. I have called and spoken with customer service to only be brushed off with a pleasant voice. I asked if the Kirby Company would pay for the repair in full as the vacuum was clearly defective and sold to us as such, but was simply informed that the charges are up to the repair shop. It is exceptionally disappointing how a $2000 vacuum that has supposed excellent longevity broke within the first 6 months of ownership. The vacuum was used most every week in our living room, which is already quite clean. It was kept in a clean, dry, temperate environment, so I cannot see how this repair should be our cost. I’m disappointed in how the customer service brushed off my question and am very disappointed that the Kirby Company does not seem to stand behind their expensive “quality” product or offer any empathy to the situation. I only give 2 stars because, for the short time the Kirby worked, it cleaned the carpet well. I hope that the Kirby Company takes this into consideration and improves their quality of product, warranty, and their customer service.
Update, The Kirby Company was able to help me get this switched replaced for free and expedite the service. Thank you for the helpful service!

mein Kirby-Reinigungssystem G5 besitze ich seit 27 Jahren. Bis heute, gab es keine Probleme mit ihm. Nur Service und den Staubsaugerbeutel wechseln und gelegentlich den Kirby selbst etwas reinigen. Die Saugkraft ist legendär. Für mich ein TOP-System!! Kein anderes Reinigungssystem kommt an Kirby im weitesten Sinne heran. Als ich ihn damals bereits leicht gebraucht gekauft habe, war er voll einsatzfähig, ohne irgendwelche Mängel oder andere “Krankheiten”. Beim Kauf wurde mir dazumal gesagt:” wenn du den Kirby kaufst und verwendest, hast du ein Gerät für immer und die Qualität kannst du mit einem Rolls-Royce vergleichen.” Diesen Satz vergesse ich nie. Denn es war die reine Wahrheit. Einmal einen Kirby gekauft, so hat man ihn für immer. Klar, dass man auch dieses Gerät pflegen und bei Bedarf einen Service durchführen lassen sollte. Aber er hält ewig sag ich mal. Meine Begeisterung hat bis heute zu Null Prozent nachgelassen. Danke für´s Lesen.
