I am the proud owner of a circa 1955 Kirby floor vac. Have used it regularly since purchase. NEVER had any repairs! I now use it for my studio apartment. Wish they made stuff today like they used to.

In 1972, as a newly engaged, young woman, I purchased my Kirby Classic vacuum. I wanted a quality vacuum that would do the job and last. I could not, possibly, have imagined that I would still own it 49 years later-and that it would be functional. I want to express my sincere appreciation for the amazing restoration you performed on it.
I’ve had my Kirby 5 since 1994. Best investment I’ve made, still works perfectly! I no longer have rugs but use it for my mattress and spring cleaning. I’m hoping Kirby comes up with a robot version that I can leave running while I’m out running errands.
I’ve had my Kirby since 1999 and I can honestly say that Kirby is the best vacuum on the market! and my Kirby has been my only vacuum for 4 years now since we got rid of our cheap plastic vacuum. I think that my Kirby can at least say running for another 20 years. This was by far the best investment I’ve ever made
In this day and age of disposable garbage there will always be people that are willing to pay for quality and willing to pay to maintain those items. My only hope is that there are enough of those people around to keep companies like Kirby building and servicing high quality products. Do you realize that you could buy FIVE dyson vacuums for the same price as ONE of these? Buy a vacuum for your entire family, and still save money by NOT buying a Kirby. Does this come with lifetime replacement that I can pass down for generations? If I’m paying $2500 for a vacuum, I’d better get a brand new one if and whenever it dies, whether that is 5 years, 10 years, 25 years, 50 years. My great grandchildren should be using the same vacuum at this price point.

I inherited my great grandmothers Kirby. I had to buy some replacements but still less expensive than a Dyson and she bought this Kirby in the 70s. That should tell you everything you need to know about how well these vacuums hold up. Get the Kirby.

AND when it does die I’ll purchase replacement parts and fix my Kirby and keep on keeping on. PLUS with the Kirby I’ll pick up more dust, rocks, socks, even small blocks! I love Kirby. My mom has had one for over 30 years and it’s still going strong. She always says, it’s one of her best investments. I’m sure it’ll still be around for her grandchildren. I advise everyone to get one!!!

older kirby vacuums are very durable and clean fairly well, but they are heavy, clumsy, and inconvenient. if you want one of these overweight, inconvenient monsters buy one off of facebook marketplace. they can be had for a couple hundred bucks or less. $2500 for an outdated vacuum that hasnt changed much of anything since the G3 released in the early 1990’s is just absolutely insane. the above review suggesting dyson (die-soon) is terrible advice, they are not made well. look to sebo, they last decades and even the best model (D4 premium) is still $1,000 less then an outdated kirby. it’s bagged and offers superior filtration. it has a lifetime belt that doesnt need replacement. it has incredible cleaning performance. it might be “plastic” but it’s high quality plastic, and fiberglass re-enforced where the strength is needed. you can also buy the K series premium which is around $900.
im not saying kirby hasnt made reliable machines, just outdated and way overpriced. they have made no significant changes in decades. their door to door sales tactics are slimy. design a modern product, sell it at vacuum cleaner dealers (not walmart), and sell it at a price that competes with sebo, meile, and tacony. you can buy a central vac for $2,500/

The Kirby Avalir Platinum is by far the best vacuum you can buy. There is a reason why they haven’t changed much about the Kirby for so many years…you don’t always have to reinvent the wheel folks! My carpets are cleaner and my proof is in the filter bag. Yes it is heavy. Yes it is loud. Yes you are not able to switch between upright and canister hose without taking things apart. Take the time to learn how to use the main features and you’ll see it’s actually pretty simple to use. This is a vacuum that will last many decades, and the best part is that it is fixable when something does eventually break. Would I pay the full retail price as listed on the website? Probably not. Instead I called my local distributor and had an in-home demonstration for mine. I knew what I was comfortable with spending before I made the appointment. He did the full demonstration and we negotiated a bit on the price, in the end I am very happy with my purchase. And my favorite part is that it is MADE IN AMERICA! Support your neighbors and buy made in the USA.

I am an owner of a Kirby G6, Kirby G5, And two Dyson vacuums. Dyson And Kirby’s prices are horrible and I don’t recommend buying the new modern ones. The Dyson V11s will die even if it sucks up ONE drop of water (both of my Dyson V11s I purchased broken and fixed them) I stored away my G5, (still works great) And I use my G6. The Kirby’s are great and reliable. The dysons are easy to use and have decent suction. Both have their own perks. But I must say. Kirbys have not changed since the G3 and you can pick up a G3 – Sentria II For under 100 dollars on FB marketplace or offer up. The modern Kirby’s are not worth nearly Three thousand dollars. My advice is to buy a old used Kirby and replace parts and clean it up. The Avalir has the same suction as the 30 year old Kirby G3 and they are not worth it. Sure they look nice but everything about them is identical. Take them apart and they are exactly the same as eachother. Kirbys last long and have great repairability and I do recommend getting a older Kirby and replacing parts. Please don’t spend 3k on a vacuum that’s using tech from 30 years ago. Keep your money and buy a used Sentria or G6! They last years. If your a Dyson fan than get one of the older DC07 – Animal. Save yourself money and get used. My two dysons were 20 each with 7 dollars parts. And both my kirbys were free. Please do not buy the newer models.
