Kirby Avalir Platinum Vacuum with Sound Suppression System

Was a bit let down by ole Kirby this evening.
I’ve had a Hoover carpet cleaner for 3 years now. I got it shortly after our first pup came home (you can imagine why 🙃).
In March we decided to get a new carpet cleaner as the ole reliable Hoover had succumb to the smells only a home with 3 large dogs could provide in the intake tank. Thus, my husband purchased a Kirby for me as a new mama gift (our first was born in February and he felt the Kirby would save me some time because I’m picky about keeping the carpets clean with the dogs) Well, as much as I love Kirby and trust their reliability, I noticed our house slowly being harder to get the doggy smell out of. Tonight I got my answer as to why- switching the carpet shampooers.

Our dog had an accident while we were gone today and it was the first since getting the Kirby. After many times of cleaning the spot, the “fluids” just kept getting spread throughout my carpet rather than sucked or cleaned up. I resulted to using my old Hoover carpet cleaner to effectively clean the area. So, my $200 product out performed a $2000 product tonight, and my Hoover will be regaining its spot in the cleaning closet alongside the Kirby.
Kirby is not a bad product by any means, do not get me wrong, as a vacuum it’s fantastic! Heck I use the vacuum hose to dust my shelves and books. Just disappointing to see that the shampooing system couldn’t carry the same reliability and quality of cleaning. Especially considering how much my husband spent on the product. 😕

While I’m here, I might also recommend some changes to the hard floor extension meant for the hose. It is terrible for me having to remove dog hair from it by hand numerous times while in use. It gets stuck in the wheels and then builds up to quickly clogging the head. Just a heads up. If it weren’t for the dog hair it’d probably be fine, but if I’m paying this much for a product, it better be able to tackle the dog hair I throw at it in my opinion. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I have owned a Kirby since 1989. The only thing I don’t like is how heavy it is. That being said, I think it is the best vacuum I have ever owned. So powerful and the attachments are like no others. I have allergies that include dust mites. As long as you use one that uses the hepa filter bags you don’t have to worry about the dust affecting your allergies. I have never had to have it serviced. I have never had a problem when calling for help with any questions. Letting someone into my house to give me a demonstration was one of the smartest things I have ever done. My house is spotless and people let me know. They are worth the price! I love my Kirby.

I love my new Kirby vacuum cleaner. Purchased one back in 2007 and just wanted to get the latest one.

I am so impressed with the power this vacuum has. I have 5 dogs and a cat. My house feels so much cleaner. I can actually see the difference in the carpets after just one use. The floor attachment is amazing. There is just as much suction power to pull the floating hair and dust from hard to reach places.

I purchased a new Kirby Classic III in 1975, after owning other vacuum cleaner brands that lasted only a few years. I still use that same Classic III today. The only thing I have ever done to it is to replace the brushes in the motor, which I did for the first time this year.

I highly recommend not purchasing a Kirby Vaccum. You can't get any help at all when something is wrong. I purchased one a year ago and have not been able to use the hose due to a piece that is missing that connects the hose to the vaccum, therefore, it will not run at all. I have called & called, emailed several times and all I get is an email telling me to watch the videos. I was told that this is an issue with the new vaccum cleaners. I need it fixed or bring me another machine.

We got this from a Neighbor see didn’t want the vacuum, but it’s it all family now and it’s working good but very expensive but I did not know they were expecting

I love my Kirby vacuum system. I really enjoyed my vacuum it did everything I needed until it stopped working. The customer support is a joke I have a part of my vacuum that needs to be replaced so I can continue to use my vacuum but getting any kind of help is a joke. I have emailed and received no help. I am being to think the lifetime warranty for replacement parts was a sales tactic to get me to buy the vacuum. I am impressed with the vacuum but very unsatisfied with customer service it’s a joke.

Love my Kirby this is my second one and had the other one I have I had fixed for a very small amount of money. I had that one for over 40 years

We have a 30 year old Generation 3 Kirby that still runs great. I just thought it was time to get a new one. The Avalir works great and has already brought the carpet back to life. I expect to get 30 years out of this vacuum cleaner as well.

As a Vacuum collector I love Kirby Vacuums! They have come out of a different generation. I have a 1997 g4 and still going strong love this Avalir Platinum. It is noticeably quieter. This is the most improvements Kirby has made in 20 years

A gentleman name Metthew Connedy came buy my street today and was demonstrating to my wife the Kirby Avalir . He did a great job, and since I had owned a Kirby before(2), and he did a great job in his demonstration of how the new one works . We bought the Avalir Platium.
Our regular vacuum cleaners, although still in good working order were not as powerful as the Kirby. Now I have to get busy vacuuming.

I'd probably always buy Kirby,, I just used a old Hertiage 2 that was sitting in the garage and it turned on just fine all rusted an everything.

My issue with kirby is, My mother, which she doesn't want her name said here, was known as the Kirby Queen in Ohio. People came to see just her to buy vacuums from her, but her boss and the kirby company left her to rot when she got in her car accident trying to pick up parts in her car while on the job.

That's bullshit.

Suffered years of bullshit with lawyers and doctors, and they couldn't help her at all. That's not family, that's fucked up.

I also used to work for them, I'm a certified repair person for them and it wasn't worth it.

I don't fault the vacuum, I fault the companies lack of support for someone that did years of service in their name through some dumb indepnant contractor, and lost everything because of it.

Have not started using my new kirby

Kirby will forever be the best vacuum I have ever used! This model is extremely quiet and leaves our brand new carpet looking amazing. Very happy with our decision to upgrade and stay with Kirby.

This is truly a great vacuum cleaner, but get one used on Facebook Marketplace. I bought mine in new condition for $25.00. It came with all the accessories too! Over $2,000 is CRAZY!!

I gave one star just to be able to write a review. Don’t wast your money on these vacuums go to any after market shop and there hundreds for sell under $200 the same brand of vacuums don’t buy them brand new you can’t get anything back for them.

I love my Kirby avalir platinum because this is a gift from God and Barbara Champion is a good friend well I have putting it to alot of work.

The purpose of this message is to inform Kirby that Chris Adam's came by today to do a show about a kirby vacuum. He was very professional and did a awesome job, answered all our questions and spent the.time to make sure we were comfortable with the vacuum. We were so lmpressed with Chris we purchased the kirby vacuum cleaner.

great job --clean and fresh

The gentle by the name Shawn Gadlin did a fabulous job demoing the new platinum series. He was friendly and very knowledgeable on the unit. The vacuum did a fabulous job and I felt bad because I just can't buy do to financial set backs from medical issues. Shawn deserved the sale hands down with his sales performance.

I have owned three Kirby vacuums over the years. A Heritage II, G5, and currently, an Ultimate G Diamond Edition. All three of these machines have been nothing short of amazing and all three still work fantastically. I have never used a more versatile machine and my home has never been cleaner! If you are on the fence about owning a Kirby system, just get one. The versatility and reliability is unmatched.

Kirby vacuums have value and purpose. For the right person.

These vacuums are well built, have multiple functions that make them a power house cleaning tool.

The door to door sales folks use tactics that are questionable. High pressure, buy now. They will claim a lifetime warranty. but listen close, it is a 3 year limited warranty. Shipping and rebuilds are not free. If you want to pay for shipping and a rebuild for the life of your vacuum? Maybe, this is for you.

Local distributors that sell Kirby products are not always responsive to their consumer's complaints/problems.

I became frustrated with my local distributor and contacted the corporate offices. All is now well.Would I recommend Kirby? Yes and no.

I have a Kirby G2 that was left behind when I purchased a house. I started using it just to see how it worked and I loved the suction both on carpets and bare floors. The machines seem to last forever. It is a little heavy but that's not a concern of mine (it is a solid machine so that's to be expected). The one complaint I would have is why Kirby never figured out how to integrate the hose into the unit instead of having to manually remove the brush roll to connect it. Sometimes you just need to get into that one corner quickly or along a piece of furniture and that makes it not convenient at all to use.

The Kirby Vacuum Cleaner provides excellent versatility for cleaning tasks, from removing dead skin from your mattress to extracting sand embedded in carpets. It is also durable and will last much longer than an average vacuum.
