Kirby Company Industry Recognition

It’s easy for us to tell you all the reasons to invest in a Kirby Avalir® home care system and you could always read our Kirby vacuum ratings and reviews, but we know how important it is for you to hear it from industry experts.

The Kirby Avalir vacuum system has been awarded the Gold Level Carpet and Rug Institute seal of approval for meeting the organization’s requirements for soil removal, dust containment and appearance retention.

The Carpet and Rug Institute employs an independent testing laboratory to measure:Carpet and Rug Institute Gold Seal of Approval

  • Soil removal — A machine’s performance in soil removal is measured precisely through X-ray fluorescence (XRF) technology. The more soil removed, the higher the rating.
  • Dust containment — To qualify for the Gold Level Seal of approval, a residential vacuum must not release more than 100 micrograms of dust particles per cubic meter of air. You want all that dirt, dust and pet dander locked tight in the vacuum, not escaping back into the air where it can be inhaled. Additionally, Gold Level vacuums must meet ambient air quality standards.
  • Surface Appearance Change — To further qualify, the vacuum must not affect the appearance of the carpet more than a one-step change (shop speak for “not very much”) based on one year of normal vacuum use.

Not just one, but two Gold Certifications

In addition, CRI has awarded the Kirby Avalir Multi-Surface Shampoo System an additional Gold Level Seal of Approval for Deep-Cleaning Systems. The Avalir system was tested for several key areas including:

  • Soil Removal Efficacy: How effective is the system at removing soil?Carpet and Rug Institute Gold Seal of Approval
  • Resoiling: Does the cleaned area attract soil at an accelerated rate or not?
  • Residual Moisture: Does the cleaning system remove most of the moisture that results from a wet cleaning process?
  • Surface Appearance Change: Does the product leave the carpet minimally changed after multiple cleanings?
  • Colorfastness: Does the product cause a color change in the carpet fiber?
